On July 27, 2025, at approximately 6:20 a.m., the Plainville Fire Department was dispatched to a residential structure fire. Multiple fire units from the Plainville Fire Department arrived on scene.
Firefighter Raymond Moreau was working on scene and standing outside the house when a piece from a nearby fire apparatus broke free and struck him, causing catastrophic injuries to his leg.
Firefighter Moreau was transported to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries during surgery.
